simpleContact Pro

Upgrading guide

Since its first release, simpleContact Lite has been downloaded over 3,000 times. If you're one of those people and want to get the power features of simpleContact Pro, you'll be glad to know that upgrading is as easy as can be.

Please note: These instructions assume that you have not modified your Lite database. The upgrade mechanism may only partially complete or fail altogether if it finds differences between your database structure and what is expected.

Before upgrading, I recommend you back up your Lite files and database, in case you need to restore them later.

If you have any comments, questions or feature suggestions, please contact me. I reply to all messages.

Step 1

Open sc-admin/config.php for simpleContact Pro in a text editor. You will find the following settings:

You probably don't need to change these – just confirm that $table_prefix_lite has the same value as $table_prefix in the sc_config.php file in your Lite installation.

Step 2

Follow the usual installation process up to step 4.

Please note: You must install simpleContact Pro into the same database as your Lite installation, in order for the Lite database tables to be detected.

Step 3

On the account creation screen you will be offered a link to upgrade. Click on it!

The following data will be transferred into your Pro installation (without modifying your Lite installation):

After this point, your Lite database tables are no longer needed. You may delete them if you wish.

See the release notes for more details.

That's all!

Continue the installation process from step 5, and you'll soon be up and running.
