Updating guide
If you have installed a previous version of simpleContact Lite, you should follow these instructions.
The steps assume that you have made no alterations to simpleContact Lite. If you have modified your installation in any way (such as changing the CSS or PHP code), you will have to re-apply those changes in your new version.
If you have any comments, questions or feature suggestions, please contact me. I reply to all messages.
Step 1
First things first: it is always good practise to back up your data before updating.
You should make sure that you have a backup of your website files and database in case you decide to roll back to the previous version for any reason. As with creating the database, the method of backing up your tables and data will depend on your host – please consult your host's documentation.
Step 2
Open sc_config.php and enter your values as before.
Step 3
If you used the list.php code (from simpleContact 1.0) in your website, you will need to open list_subscribe.php and paste the new code into your email newsletter subscribe page.
You may want to take this opportunity to use list_unsubscribe.php to make an un-subscribe page.
Step 4
Upload simpleContact Lite to your web server. I recommend that you delete the previous sc_admin folder beforehand, to make sure that no unnecessary files remain.
Step 5
Visit either contact.php, list_subscribe.php, list_unsubscribe.php or sc_admin at whatever domain or server you have uploaded them to. simpleContact Lite will upgrade its own database tables.
Step 6
You should examine your new settings, to make sure that they are appropriate.
